When parents split up…

It can be scary, confusing and upsetting. It might make you feel bad or angry inside. Sometimes if parents have been fighting lots, it might even feel better.

It’s not your fault

Parents fight or split up for many reasons. Just remember it's not your fault and you're not to blame! And it’s not up to you to fix things.

You might have lots of questions

You might be thinking... Where will I live? Will I still see my friends? Will I have to change schools? It’s ok to have lots of questions!

Try talking about it...

Let out your feelings. Ask questions. Try talking with a parent or older relative you trust about what’s happening. Don’t be afraid to ask for help if you need it.

Do something that makes you feel better

Sometimes feelings can be too much – try taking a break! Listen to music, play a game, kick a ball around outside, make a drawing... do something fun!
