Seeing scary stuff in the news

Boy watching TV and iPad with scary news on them

News about the world is all around us

We see it on the TV, in newspapers, on the internet and in social media. It can be easy to feel like bad stuff is happening all the time.

We all react differently to the news

Some people might feel sad or scared. Some people might not be bothered at all. There is no right or wrong way to react to news about the world.

It’s ok to ask an adult

You might not understand what is happening. Ask Mum or Dad any questions you have. The more you understand what is happening, the less scary it might seem.

Turn off the TV or the iPad

It can make it worse to watch the same news over and over. It’s important to give yourself a break. Go outside or do something you enjoy to take your mind off it!
