When I was 15 my mother died of cancer. It was such a shock to our family. I went off the rails with drugs and drinking and frequently having random sex because I thought it would cure the pain that was hiding deep inside me.
I called Kids Helpline because my mate said it would help. I got in touch with someone who made me realise that my mum's death was not a disaster but a chapter in my life. I stopped taking drugs and I talked to my family about rehab. Now I am a clean strait edge person.
