Friendships

Friendships are a really important parts of our lives.  A supportive friend is very special.  However, losing friends, fighting with friends, or having trouble making friends, are all issues children and young people talk about with our counsellors.  So this month, we'd like to hear your thoughts on friends and friendship.

What makes a good friend? And how are your friends important to you?

Life Changes

What are your thoughts about changing to a new school/TAFE/university or work in 2010?

The beginning of the year is often a time of change, which can bring about lots of different feelings, ranging from excitement to nervousness.

Kids Helpline counsellors get many calls from young people talking about these changes, such as going from primary school to high school, starting at TAFE or university, or even starting in the work force.

We would love to hear how you are feeling about any changes you are expecting in the coming year.

What is Christmas like for you?

For some young people Christmas is a great time of the year, and a time to enjoy celebrating with their families and friends.

For others it may not be so great.  For example some young people:
- are away from their families at Christmas
- would prefer not to be with their families, or
- may not have families.

And for others it isn't a special time of year because Christmas is not part of their culture.

We'd love you to share what Christmas time is like for you.

Remember, if you need to talk, Kids Helpline - 1800 55 1800 - is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and all throughout the Christmas holidays.

Tough Times

What are some difficult situations you have been able to cope with and how?
Do you have a role model who provides inspiration during these times?
