Feeling Nervous
What's happening?
Feeling on edge when you are facing something new is quite normal. Your body is getting ready for something a bit different, and so it needs to be more alert and focused to help you with the new situation.
Feeling a bit unsure or nervous can happen even when you are doing something that you enjoy, or that you find exciting. You may also feel this way when you face activities that are more difficult or challenging than you're used to.
Usually, these feelings start to go away as soon as you begin the activity and are gone by the time you have finished it.
What happens when the feelings don't go away?
Sometimes nervous feelings can go for a long time, and they can change how you feel about going to school or trying new things. This can be a bit worrying.
Sometimes the problem seems bigger because you imagine things that could go wrong, or you don't really know what is going to happen or what's expected of you. Some people like to know very clearly what they have to do, and others aren't worried either way. Both of these are normal and ok!
